Closing the Loop

Georgia Tech is closing the loop on campus through comprehensive composting efforts in all seven dining halls.

By switching to sustainable, BPI-Certified compostable packaging made from plants like bamboo, corn, and sugar beets, and working with Compost Now, a local composting service provider, to date, Georgia Tech has diverted 1 million pounds of waste from landfills.

Here’s what you can do:

  • When there are leftovers — fruits, veg, crust, the last bit of scrambled eggs, and even chicken bones…
  • Whenever you see the BPI-Certified logo on a to-go container, plate, cup and lid, or napkin…
    — toss these items in the Compost Bins in the dining halls.

Remember avoid food waste whenever possible and less is more when it comes to any type of packaging! Learn more about the closed-loop approach with Better Earth Compostable Packaging and Compost Now below.

Thank you for increasing Georgia Tech’s impact by composting food scraps and compostable packaging!
